A file type is an internal data layout that differs from file to file. For example, for video files, the extension avi is one type, mkv is another, and mov is a third. Each of these standards has certain properties and characteristics. It so happens that you need to play the recording on some device that supports only avi-video. In this case, you need to convert the file from one type to another using a special program.

Step 1
Download a utility for converting video files, such as Any Video Converter. It is a free and convenient tool for working with a very large list of video standards and types. Alternatively, you can use Total Video Converter or Format Factory. These programs can also change the video file type to avi.
Step 2
Follow the link to the AVC developer site - https://www.any-video-converter.com/products/for_video_free/ or to any software portal on the Internet, for example www.softportal.ru or www.softodrom.ru, if you prefer another program. Click the Download or Download button and download the installation file.

Install data conversion software. To do this, find the installation file that you downloaded in the downloads folder of your browser. This is usually the My Documents Downloads folder, but other options are possible. Double-click the program installation and answer the wizard's questions. When it's over, you will have a shortcut on your desktop to launch the program.
Step 4
Open Any Video Converter. Double click on the shortcut with the left mouse button or locate the folder in the Start menu, All Programs submenu. Click the "Add Video" button located in the upper left part of the window. Select the file you want to change. The video title and its parameters will appear in the main part of the window.
Step 5
Select the line "Custom AVI" from the drop-down menu on the right side of the program, right above the video viewing window. At the bottom, under the viewing area, select encoding options. To do this, scroll through the list of possible settings, left-click on the desired line and select the appropriate option. For example, we recommend that you set the Video Resolution to Original so that the aspect ratio of the image is not changed. Also set the Frame Rate to AUTO.

Click the "Encode" button when you are finished configuring the parameters. This button is at the top of the program window. Wait for the completion of the work, to control the process, a line of converting progress appears opposite the file name. After the end of the conversion, the program itself will offer to open the resulting file.
