Today, sites that allow for a fee (or without) download a favorite movie to a collection or a novelty for review are very popular. These sites are called trackers. As a rule, to assess the quality of the provided video file, users (or clients) are offered a cut fragment called a sample (from the English word sample - an example).

Instructions

Step 1

So that the future viewer can evaluate the quality of the video or listen to the sound sequence (evaluate the translation, loudness, absence or minimum of extraneous noise), the sample is cut out from the middle of the film. It is desirable that a scene be chosen in which there is conversation and movement. For example, a scene where the hero or heroine sits motionless and thinks about something or reads a book will not work - there is no action and sound in it. There are many programs that allow you to create fragments of video files, but there are some that are very popular and therefore you should pay attention to them. Video formats are varied and each has its own program or utility. Of course, there are also universal software products.

Step 2

AVI (Audio Video Interleave) is one of the most popular video formats. The best editor for it is VirtualDub. Run the program and open the full video via the File-Open video file menu (or Ctrl-O). Move the slider (at the bottom of the window) to the start time of the fragment. Fix the start with the Edit-Set selection start menu command. Select the end of the fragment in the same way and select the Edit-Set selection end command. To avoid compression, select Video-Direct stream copy from the menu. Save the sample with the File-Save as command or the F7 key.

Step 3

MKV (Matroska, in common parlance - matryoshka). The native mkvMerge utility, which is included with mkvToolNix, is best suited for this format. Open the source file using the Add command on the Input tab. On the Global tab, set Enable splitting, select the After timecodes mode. The program cuts the file into parts, but does not cut out the fragments, therefore, to get the desired piece, set two points in time separated by commas in the "HH: MM: SS" format and get three fragments, then save the intermediate one and delete the outer ones. For example, setting the parameters "00:41:25, 00:43:01" for a video with a duration of 1:46:13, we get three parts of length 00:41:25, 00:01:36 and 01:03:12, respectively. The middle section will be your sample. The output file name is indicated on the Input tab at the bottom of the window and can be changed if desired.

Step 4

MPEG-4 (Moving Picture Experts Group 4 (Video)) is also a popular format. Use the MP4Box program for it. Everything is very simple here and is performed in one window. In the Input field, select the name of the source video, set the Split from mode "the beginning of the sample in the HH: MM: SS format" to "the ending in the HH: MM: SS format", in the Output field, enter the name of the finished file, click Next. If desired, you can view a fragment during the process by checking the Enable video preview checkbox.
