Instructions
Step 1
It is preferable to use graphic editors that are distributed free of charge. These programs include Gimp. To download this application, follow the link indicated in the "Additional Sources" section. Go to the "Stable version" block and select your operating system.
Step 2
After you click on the link, a screen will appear prompting you to save the file. Select a directory and click the "Save" button. The installation of the program is inherently standard, follow the instructions of the installation wizard to install this application correctly. To launch the program, use the shortcuts in the Start menu, Quick Launch bar, or on the desktop.
Step 3
Drag the photo you want to the editor window to open it. Alternatively, you can use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + O, specify an image, and click the Open button. To adjust the contrast and brightness of the loaded image, open the "Colors" menu and select the "Brightness - Contrast" item in the list.
Step 4
A small window will appear in front of you, in which there are two sliders. Move them to the left and right sides independently of each other to get the desired shade of the photo. If you plan to change multiple photos in this way, keep the current settings. To do this, just press the button with the plus icon. Click OK to close the current window.
Step 5
If you also want to even out the overall color of the photo, use the Color Curves Adjustment tool. The setting for this parameter can be found in the same Color menu. In the new window, pay attention to the graph, here you can adjust any color. To do this, left-click on any part of the straight line. After you see a small point (mark) on a straight line, move it to any place, focusing on changing the color scheme of your photograph. Click OK to close this window.
