Each user can customize the appearance of the operating system differently. For some, it is enough to change the wallpaper, while others want to redo literally everything. Often, many of them face the problem of removing the trash can icon from the desktop.
Instructions
Step 1
There are several options for the Windows XP operating system. Start Registry Editor. To do this, select "Start" -> "Run" and write regedit in the appropriate field, and then click OK. Find the registry key HKEY_CURRENT_USER / Software / Microsoft / Windows / CurrentVersion / Explorer / HideDesktopIcons / NewStartPanel. In the {645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E} branch, change the value of the binary DWORD parameter to 1. It is this branch that is responsible for hiding the trash can icon from the desktop. If this parameter is not in the registry, create it, otherwise the basket will be displayed.
Step 2
Start Registry Editor. To do this, select "Start" -> "Run" and write regedt32 in the appropriate field, then click OK. Find the HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT / CLSID {645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E} ShellFolder key. Double click on Attributes, change the value from 40010020 to 60010020. Then close the Registry Editor. Now, when you right-click on the basket, the "Delete" menu item will appear. Choose it.
Step 3
Another option does not require working with the registry. Select "Start" -> "Run" and in the appropriate field write gpedit.msc or, if it does not work, mmc. In the opened control console select "File" -> "Open". In the dialog box that appears, open the C: / Windows / system32 / folder and select the gpedit.msc file. Select User Configuration -> Administrative Templates -> Desktop. Enable the Remove Recycle Bin icon from Desktop option.
Step 4
You can also use special programs to change system parameters. They are called tweakers, an example is Tweak UI. Launch this program, open the Desktop tab, uncheck the Recycle Bin checkbox and click OK.
Step 5
In the Windows 7 operating system, you can remove the trash can icon from the desktop using standard tools. Right-click on the desktop, select "Personalization" -> "Change desktop icons", where uncheck the box next to the item "Trash".
Step 6
There is no "Personalization" in the basic version of the Windows 7 operating system. To remove the trash can icon from the desktop, start Registry Editor, find the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE / SOFTWARE / Microsoft / Windows / CurrentVersion / Explorer / Desktop / NameSpace branch and delete the {645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E} subkey.
