Installing several operating systems on one computer allows you to significantly expand the range of available software. This is due to the fact that not all convenient and useful utilities are designed to work with modern operating systems of the Windows family.

Necessary

  • - Windows XP installation disc;
  • - Windows Seven installation disc.

Instructions

Step 1

The easiest way to keep the two systems in sync is to install Windows XP first and then Windows Seven. If you already have the "Seven" installed, then use it to create the necessary partitions.

Step 2

Using the Partition Manager program, create an additional partition to which Windows XP will be installed. Allocate 10-12 GB for this. This is sufficient for storing system files and related software.

Step 3

Now insert the Windows XP installation disc into the drive, turn on the computer and press the F8 key. Set the boot priority to DVD drive and press Enter. Install the Windows XP operating system on the prepared partition.

Step 4

Do not use the local C drive under any circumstances. This is because the Windows XP boot sector is usually located on the C drive. After completing the installation of the system components, remove the disc from the drive. Replace it with the Windows Seven installation disc.

Step 5

Restart your computer, making sure to start from the DVD drive and not the hard drive. Install Windows Seven on the local drive C. As in the previous case, the computer will be rebooted several times during the installation of the operating system files.

Step 6

After the Windows Seven installation is complete, open Control Panel and select the System menu. Open Advanced System Settings and click the Options button associated with the Startup and Recovery menu.

Step 7

Select the OS that will start initially. Reduce the OS selection menu display time to 5-10 seconds. Reboot your computer. After a while, a menu will appear with two fields: Windows 7 and "Previous version of Windows". As you can imagine, choosing the second option will launch the Windows XP operating system.
