A headset is a headset and microphone combined into one device. With regard to the home computer, headsets are used in games, for IP telephony, and work with multimedia applications. In the office, it is most often used by employees of support centers, dispatchers, etc. The method of connecting such a device to a computer may be different depending on which channels are used for signal transmission - wired (analog) or remote (radio frequency, infrared, Bluetooth).

Instructions

Step 1

Determine the type of connection used in your headset model. The options are wired and wireless. It will be difficult not to notice the wired connection, but you also need to pay attention to the type of connector on the connecting cord - it can be one connector for connecting to the USB port, or two pins for connecting to the audio and telephone inputs. If there are no wires extending from the headset, then look for an adapter in the kit - a plastic box that connects to a computer and is a receiving and transmitting device for communicating with the headset.

Step 2

Connect the adapter to your computer if your headset is wireless. Typically, the adapter uses a USB port on the computer - insert the connecting cable into one of the USB ports on the case. The operating system should recognize the connected device and its icon will appear in the tray. If this does not happen, you will see a corresponding message on the screen. In this case, use the optical disc supplied with the headset to manually install the adapter driver. If there is no such disk, download the correct driver from the headset manufacturer's website.

Step 3

Install the batteries into the wireless headset case. If its design also provides for a switch, turn it on. This is usually enough to start using the device. However, it is possible that you will be required to put the headset in discoverable mode if it is a Bluetooth headset.

Step 4

If an analog connection is used to exchange data with a computer, then insert the connector into the corresponding connector. If this is a USB connection, the OS will identify the device on its own, or you will have to manually install the required driver, as described in the second step. If you are using a patch cord with two male connectors, pay attention to their color coding. One of them is pressed into a plastic case with green elements, and the other is pink. Insert them into the connectors marked with the same colors on the computer case.
