Inkjet printers are increasingly being replaced by laser printers, which provide better and cheaper printing. But in some cases, for example, when printing photographs, it is inkjet printers that allow you to get cheaper printing. Since they run out of ink quickly enough, you should learn how to refill the cartridges yourself.

Necessary

  • - ink for refueling;
  • - three syringes of 10 ml.

Instructions

Step 1

Inkjet printer cartridges may differ from model to model, but the general refilling technology is the same. You will need ink in the colors you want, usually red, yellow, and blue (some printers add black ink). They can be sold immediately in 20 ml syringes, or you will need three conventional medical syringes, 10 ml, in which you need to draw the ink of the desired colors.

Step 2

Remove the cartridge from the printer following the instructions for use. A certain amount of ink is poured into the cartridge, the required volume is usually indicated on the case. Place the cartridge on the newspaper with the printheads down, then drill, pierce, burn through the hole with a heated needle in each of the three compartments. It should be located at the top of the cartridge, sometimes there is already a specially designated place for it.

Step 3

Carefully insert the needle of a syringe with ink of the desired color into the hole and refill the cartridge, usually about 6 ml is filled. In the same way, fill the other chambers with the correct ink colors. Let the cartridge stand for about five minutes, then tape the filling holes with tape. Put the cartridge back in the printer and run several cleaning cycles, usually 1 to 3. Check the print quality - if it is poor, repeat the cleaning cycle. After that, the printer should start working normally.

Step 4

Since self-refilling of cartridges by users is not profitable for printer manufacturers, they began to supply cartridges with special chips that control ink consumption. When the ink runs out (or the chip decides that it’s out of ink), you will have to buy a new cartridge. However, users also found loopholes in this case. In the simplest case, a new chip is simply bought and put on a refilled cartridge. Buying a chip and refill ink is cheaper than buying a new cartridge.

Step 5

On some models of printers, users have learned to zero chips, which allows using cartridges an almost unlimited number of times. Finally, many users began to install self-made CISS - continuous ink supply systems on an inkjet printer, this method should be considered the most successful solution to the problem. In such a system, the ink compartments in the cartridge are connected by thin tubes to donor containers, from which ink flows into the cartridge as it is consumed. This way, the cartridge is never empty.
