Instructions

Step 1

If the hard drive is new, then you can divide it into partitions already during the installation of the operating system. Select the disk on which to install the system, set the size of the logical disk. Then divide the rest in the same way.

Step 2

If the system is already installed and you need to partition the data disk, then you will need some kind of program to work with disk partitions. You can find such a program on the Internet. Most of them have the same capabilities and only slightly differ in functionality. In addition, they can also differ in that some of them are free, while others will have to be paid for.

Step 3

Let's take some free software. For example EASEUS Partition Master Home Edition. You can download it from the manufacturer's website https://www.partition-tool.com/download.htm. Install the program following its instructions

Step 4

Run the program and click the Go to main screen button. You will be presented with a screen showing all of your hard drives. First of all, reduce the size of the primary partition of the disk you want to partition. To do this, right-click on it and select Resize / Move Partition. In the Partition size line, set a new size for the first disk partition and click OK. Now right click on the unpartitioned area that appears and select Create partition. Set the size of the new logical disk or select the entire area if you want to give all available space for the partition. Write the name of the disk in the Partition Label line. When done, click OK.

Step 5

Once again, make sure you did everything correctly and click Apply in the upper left corner of the screen. After the program finishes its work, restart your computer, if necessary.
