Most more or less experienced gamers have at least once encountered such a problem as errors that occur during the gameplay. In computer jargon, such errors are often referred to as "lags." The ways to solve such errors directly depend on the cause of their occurrence. Therefore, an explanation of the ways to eliminate lags will be made together with an indication of the root of the problem.
Necessary
- - Manual for using your motherboard (section about BIOS update);
- - Skills for updating video card drivers;
- - Skills of updating DirectX;
- - Ability to determine the technical parameters of your computer.
Instructions
Step 1
In fact, all errors that occur in computer games can have only two reasons - problems with the so-called "hardware", that is, the hardware of the computer, as well as problems with software. Let's consider these classes of problems separately. Problems related to hardware: Sellers of discs with computer games have probably more than once encountered situations when, after buying a particular disc, the buyer soon returned upset and said that he could not start the game In most cases, this suggests that this customer's computer simply "does not pull" the game, that is, there is not enough computing power. To avoid these incidents, you should carefully read the technical specifications of the game before purchasing. Also, you should know what your computer is capable of, namely, such parameters as the size of the RAM (MB), the frequency of the processor (Mhz), the size of the video memory (MB) and the brand of the video card. Find out which operating system is installed on your computer and how much free hard disk space is available. This will save you from repeated trips to the store for a refund and will save you nerves. It may also happen that the game has started, but it “slows down” a lot. In this case, the reason for the "brakes" can also be "weak iron". However, do not rush to immediately buy a new video card or buy additional RAM. Perhaps the problem lies in the software.
Step 2
Software problems: If everything is more or less clear with the hardware (there is not enough RAM - I went and bought it and so on), then the software part is a little more complicated. Install and update your antivirus software well in advance. Making sure your computer is free of viruses dramatically increases your chances of successfully fixing lags.
Step 3
Keep your graphics card drivers up to date. A driver is a program that controls its operation. The availability of fresh drivers to some extent guarantees you that the card will work correctly. True, it sometimes happens that the latest versions are not always better than the time-tested ones. This is found out only experimentally. It is recommended to download the latest drivers only from the official websites of the manufacturer of your video card.
Step 4
Install the latest version of DirectX. This is software (or rather, a set of libraries) for processing video images. Distributions with DirectX are almost always attached on discs with games, however, obsolescence occurs very quickly (after 3 months), so it is better to download from the official Microsoft website (the link is provided in the corresponding section).
Step 5
Check for patches for the game. Even if the drivers and DirectX are fresh, and there are still lags, the problem may lie in the game itself. Sometimes it happens that even official publications come out with errors. This is fixed by installing special "patches" for the game, called patches. You can check their availability on the official sites dedicated to the game.
Step 6
Monitor the status of your computer's BIOS. Unfortunately, even if everything seems to be perfect, there are no viruses and all programs are the freshest, an outdated BIOS version can become a weak point. The game can end suddenly, while simultaneously disrupting the operation of the entire operating system. Please refer to your motherboard manuals for upgrade information. Usually everything is described in detail and clearly.
