Choosing the right case for the system unit is not such an easy task, since it is carried out not only by design. There are other, more important parameters.
The case of the system unit is not its most important element, but the wrong choice is fraught with some problems (for example, the need to change it due to the impossibility of installing a motherboard in it). Here are some criteria to keep in mind when choosing a case:
Stores offer several types of cases - miniature, midi and maxi and desktop. They differ in size, ways of placing components. Before deciding on the standard size, you need to know which particular motherboard you will take (its form factor). Desktop cases often require different power supplies than those for "towers".
Example: An ATX motherboard cannot fit into a miniature case - it just won't fit.
Designers offer two types of positioning the power supply in the case - bottom and top. Both have their own advantages and disadvantages in the cooling features of the installed components and the power supply itself, so the choice is up to the user.
It is clear that the more bays for installing additional devices, the better. It is convenient if you can connect, for example, another hard drive, but the number of such bays is not the main parameter for choosing a case, since you can use an external box if necessary.
It is worth paying attention to the fasteners with which these compartments are equipped - screws or latches (they can fix the device in a second, which is much more convenient than traditional screws).
The ability to connect headphones or speakers without pulling the system unit out of the table completely is certainly convenient, and additional USB ports on the front panel will be comfortable for the user. Also, make sure that you cannot accidentally press the buttons to turn on or restart the computer with your knee or elbow, but at the same time it is convenient to reach them.
The most popular option today is vertical, however, horizontal cases (desktops) can also be found on sale. Horizontal enclosures are more often used in a corporate environment; among home users, their popularity is low, which is explained by somewhat worse ventilation.
Despite the fact that the appearance of the case does not affect the convenience of its use, models in a futuristic style are very popular among teenagers.
