No sound is a fairly common problem that occurs after reinstalling the operating system. As a rule, the reason for its manifestation lies in the incompatibility or lack of drivers.

Instructions
Step 1
First, find out which sound adapter your computer uses. To do this, open the case of the system unit. Internal cards can be of two types: discrete board and integrated chip. If you are using an internal chip, the audio inputs will be located directly on the motherboard.
Step 2
Write down the model name of the motherboard (integrated chip) or sound card (discrete board). Turn on your computer and open your internet browser. Go to the website of the company that developed the sound card (system board).
Step 3
Download the correct drivers or software. If you are using a Realtek audio device, you need the AC'97 Audio Codecs application. This is a universal program that allows you to configure most of the sound cards of this manufacturer.
Step 4
After selecting and downloading drivers, open the directory with these files. If you have a self-extracting archive in exe (msi) format, just open this file. Proceed with the software installation following the step-by-step menu recommendations.
Step 5
If the driver files are a standard zip (rar) archive, first extract them into a separate directory. Now open the Device Manager menu, which can be accessed through the System Properties section.
Step 6
After a while, you will be presented with a list of connected devices. The sound card will be highlighted with an exclamation mark. Double click on its name and open the "Driver" tab.
Step 7
Click the Update button to launch the corresponding system utility. Choose a manual file search method. Now specify the folder containing the files downloaded from the site. Wait for the system to integrate the required components and restart your computer.
Step 8
Check the performance of your sound card by running an arbitrary file of the appropriate type.
