There are several ways to increase the speed of your computer. If we are talking about a relatively old model, then it is better to change the operating parameters of some devices that make up the personal computer.
Necessary
- - SpeedFan;
- - MemTest.
Instructions
Step 1
Use the capabilities of the motherboard to change the parameters of the CPU and RAM. Turn on your computer and go to the BIOS menu. To do this, hold down the Delete key after turning on the PC. Relatively old models of motherboards allowed changing many parameters by working in the BIOS menu. Open the Advanced Chipset Configurations menu.
Step 2
Find the item that displays the bus frequency of the central processor. Increase this figure. Don't change the frequency too much in one go. Considering the fact that a sufficiently high multiplier (6-10) was used in Intel Pentium 3 processors, a sharp change in the bus frequency can damage the device. Increase the voltage to the CPU slightly.
Step 3
Save your settings and restart your computer. After the operating system has finished loading, install the Clock Gen program. Check the status of the CPU. If the utility does not detect any errors, return to the BIOS menu and repeat the procedure for increasing the CPU bus frequency.
Step 4
Install the Speed Fan software and run it. Check the CPU temperature. If it exceeds the allowable values, increase the rotational speed of the CPU cooler. Get your processor in optimal condition. Consider its performance and degree of heating.
Step 5
Open the BIOS menu and go to Advanced Setup. Increase the clock speed of the RAM cards. This process should be done after tuning and optimizing the CPU. Periodically check the condition of the RAM strips using the MemTest program or the tools of the Windows operating system.
Step 6
Adjust the operating system settings after the computer is overclocked. This will slightly increase its performance without overloading the internal devices.
