With the help of the Internet, you can watch what is happening all over the world. You can also connect to other computers in your home or office by organizing a local area network. Windows Vista has its own algorithm for this.
Instructions
Step 1
Check with your provider what equipment you need to connect your local network. Install all required network adapters. Check out the instructions that accompany them.
Step 2
Create a new Internet connection by clicking on the corresponding icon in the "Control Panel". This is to make sure your internet connection is up and running properly. Open your web browser and try visiting any site. If the page is loading, then the connection is established correctly.
Step 3
Go to the created connection and change some settings. Change the connection method and select Ethernet, Wireless, or HPNA, depending on your ISP's instructions.
Step 4
Open "Control Panel" and select "Network and Internet". Go to the "Network and Sharing Center" section. In the field on the left, click the "Set up a connection or network" button. Start the "Configuring a Wireless Router or Access Point" section. Enter the appropriate network parameters (usually the system determines the optimal settings automatically).
Step 5
Check your network. From the Start menu select Connections. You should see icons representing other computers connected to your home network. Click on any of them and try to transfer any file. If you succeed, then the local network is configured correctly.
