Reading, recovering and copying data from a damaged disk is one of the most common tasks when working with removable media. The number of proposed solutions is huge, but when trying to systematize, they all boil down to a limited set of action algorithms.

Instructions

Step 1

Try using a soft cloth (silk or cotton) to polish the disc. It is not recommended to use circular movements; movements from the center to the edges are considered correct.

Step 2

Wipe the disc with a special anti-static cloth and insert it into another drive (if possible).

Step 3

Place the damaged dick in the freezer for 30 minutes, after wrapping it in a bag. Repeated attempts to read the damaged sector lead to heating of the disk, which causes a change in the refractive index. A cooled disc is less susceptible to heat, which can help solve the problem.

Step 4

Try using software (SuperCopy, BadCopy) to replace bad sector values with zeros, or try to create a disk image using specialized applications (Alcohol, Ahead Nero).

Step 5

Use utilities such as Nero Drive Speed or Slow CD to change (slow down) the disc reading speed, or download a specialized Non-Stop Copy program that does not require installation and is freely available on the Internet.

Step 6

Unpack and run the Non-Stop Copy application.

Step 7

Follow the procedure to quickly copy the damaged disc. In this case, unreadable disk sectors are marked as broken without stopping the copying process.

Step 8

Go to the drill down process, during which the program determines the exact boundaries of the unreadable sector of the damaged disk, or select the fine drill option if there are several damaged setors.

Step 9

Complete the procedure for repairing the damaged disk by performing the procedure for copying bad sectors. By default, the application makes five attempts to copy each damaged fragment.

Step 10

Use the option to restore the entire directory containing one or more bad sectors using the specialized nscopyd.bat script included in the Non-Stop Copy program.

Step 11

Call the main menu of the operating system by pressing the "Start" button and go to the "Run" item.

Step 12

Enter the value drive_name: Program Files

scopy

scopyd.bat " disk_name: to_copy_folder " disk_name: path_to_store_copy_store "and confirm the execution of the command by clicking OK.
