Step 1
Some programs (for example, a client-bank) need the key to be installed in the carrier under the letter "A", and the program does not care that a laptop is used, the letter "A" is reserved by the system, and the key is on the USB flash drive. It remains to say a big thank you to the programmers and, with a sigh, edit the system by hand.
Step 2
Open Registry Editor. In the line of the Run field (you can find it in the Start menu) enter the regedit command and press enter to confirm the command and send it for execution. The system window of the registry editor will open. Work carefully on this system. If it does not work properly, it is possible to damage some parts of the operating system, which will lead to some errors.
Step 3
The editor is divided into two areas. So, the structure of the main elements of the computer is shown on the left, and their contents are displayed on the right. Above is the familiar control menu. Expand the hierarchy in the list on the left: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE - SYSTEM and highlight the MountedDevices parameter. Examine the contents of the parameter in the right pane. Find the item that corresponds to the drive: / DosDevices / A:
Step 4
Click on the item with the right mouse button and then "Rename" to set a different name. Change the letter "A" to whatever you like. Use the symbols of the English alphabet. Press enter to save your changes. Restart your computer for the changes to take effect correctly. The drive will now be displayed with the specified letter. If you need to change the letter of a medium other than the drive, use Disk Management. You can change different types of media. It is also worth noting that in addition to a letter, a specific name can be assigned to the information carrier.
