Try one of the most popular techniques to sharpen your photo. It allows you to avoid the appearance of color halos that appear when the sharpness of the picture is greatly increased. This can improve the clarity of the photo to a greater extent.

Instructions

Step 1

Open the image you want to edit from in Photoshop. In the process of sharpening a photo, it is necessary that the image scale be 100%. To do this, double-click on the Scale tool. Look at the numbers next to the file header and make sure it's 100% scaled.

Step 2

Set the image to Lab mode. To do this, go to the main menu item Image - Mode - Lab. Visually, nothing will happen to the picture.

Step 3

Open the Channels palette (main menu item Window - Channels). You will see the following channels: Lightness (the channel is responsible for the brightness of the image), a and b (these channels contain color data). Activate the Lightness channel to separate the image details from the color data. This allows the sharpening technique to be applied only to the details in the photograph, without the appearance of color halos. The image will turn black and white for a while.

Step 4

Apply a filter that allows you to flexibly control the sharpening process (main menu command Filter - Sharpen - Sharpen Edges). In the filter dialog box, you can set, for example, the following parameters: Effect - 85, Radius - 1, Threshold - 4. This filter can be applied several times if the result after the first application does not suit you very much.

Step 5

Activate the sea otter Lab, after that the image will become full color again.

Step 6

If as a result you are still not quite happy with the degree of image sharpness, apply the Sharpen Edges filter with the same settings again. To do this, use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + F.

Step 7

Before saving the image, convert it back to the color model to which it was originally (Image - Mode …).
