System files and folders are required for any operating system to function properly. Therefore, they are not displayed by the operating system by default in order to increase its security. But if for some reason you need to see the hidden system folders of the operating system, then it is possible to do this. But it should be borne in mind that changing the hidden parameters of the operating system can lead to its failure. So you need to act carefully and do not need to change anything.

Instructions

Step 1

If you are using the Windows XP operating system, you need to do the following. Open My Computer. Go to Tools, then select Folder Options. A new window will open. In this window, go to the "View" tab. Further in the line "Additional parameters" check the box next to "Display the contents of system folders". Then check the box "Show hidden files". After that, find the option "Hide protected system files" and uncheck the box next to the option. When all the steps are done, click "Apply", then OK.

Step 2

If you have Windows 7 installed on your computer, then this method is suitable for displaying system files. Close all active programs. Click Start. Next in the search bar, enter "Folder Options" and press Enter. From the search results found, select Folder Options. Then select the "View" tab. Drag the slider to the very bottom of the window. At the bottom, check the line "Show hidden files, folders and drives". After that click "Apply" and OK. Now all system hidden files can be viewed.

Step 3

If you want to change something in the files, first make copies of them on a USB flash drive, another hard disk partition, or write to any disk. If, after manipulating system files, the operating system stops working stably, using backup copies of files, you can restore its normal operation. Also, in case of problems, the normal operation of the OS can be restored using the boot disk.

Step 4

After you enable the display of system files, several folders will appear on the partitions of the hard drives. Also, such folders may appear on the desktop. They can get in the way, and you may need to hide the files again. To do this, just follow the same steps, only in reverse order, and the files will be hidden and inaccessible again.
