Do you remember exactly that you created a folder, saved files to it, moved the folder to the local drive of your computer and thought: "I will definitely not lose it here." And … we have safely forgotten which directory it was moved to. And if someone else changed the settings for displaying items on the computer, then finding the missing folder will be even more difficult, but you should not despair.

Instructions

Step 1

To find the missing folder, use the capabilities of your system. Call the "Search" command through the "Start" menu, and a new dialog box will open. In the window that opens, in the "Part of the file name or the whole file name" field, enter the name of your lost folder.

Step 2

In the "Search in" field, use the drop-down list to specify the local drives where you want to search for the folder. Expand the "Advanced options" section by clicking on the arrow icon and set the marker in the "Search in hidden files and folders" field and in the "View subfolders" field. Click on the "Find" button.

Step 3

Wait for the search to complete. All files found by request will be displayed in the right part of the window. Open the folder you are looking for from the Search Results window or in the Folders section look in which directory it is located.

Step 4

If you yourself (or someone else) made the folder "invisible", that is, in fact, it exists, but it is not visible in the corresponding directory, change the folder properties. From the Search Results window, right-click on the folder name and select Properties, a new Properties: [your folder name] dialog box will open.

Step 5

In the window that opens, go to the "General" tab and in the "Attributes" section, remove the marker from the "Hidden" field. Click on the "Apply" button for the new settings to take effect. Close the window by clicking on the OK button or the X icon in the upper right corner of the window.

Step 6

There is another way to make hidden folders visible. Open any folder and select Folder Options from the Tools section on the top menu bar. In the dialog box that opens, go to the "View" tab. In the Advanced Options section, use the scroll bar to move down the list. Set the marker in the field "Show hidden files and folders". Click the Apply button and close the window.
