Windows operating system failures are common. In order not to spend a lot of time reinstalling the OS, you need to be able to quickly and correctly fix the problems that have arisen.
If you turn on your computer and notice no sound, check that your sound card is working. First, make sure the speaker is connected to your computer and turned on. To do this, look at which cables are connected to the mini-jack connectors.
Reconnect the speaker to a different slot on the sound card. There may be a problem with a specific port. Now make sure the sound card is working correctly. Open the start menu.
Right-click on the "Computer" line and select "Properties". The Device Manager link will be displayed on the left side of the launched menu. Follow it to launch the menu of the same name.
Expand the Sound, Video and Game Controllers category. Find among other equipment a sound adapter. Most likely, the device name will be marked with an exclamation mark. This means that the correct drivers are not installed for the sound card.
Highlight the board name with the right mouse button and go to Update Drivers. First, select the automatic file installation mode. If this method does not work, find the software you need yourself.
Visit the developer site for your sound card. The vast majority of IBM-compatible platforms come with Realtek boards. Go to www.realtek.com and download the sound card software.
Install the downloaded program. After restarting your computer, make sure the device is stable. Check your Windows operating system sound settings if the above procedures did not correct the problem.
If, after installing the program, the hardware is still highlighted with an exclamation mark, try replacing the sound card.
