Problems with starting the DVD drive in most cases occur when installing the operating system Microsoft Windows version 7. There may be several reasons and not all of them can be fixed at home. However, problems can often be fixed using standard OS tools.
Instructions
Step 1
Perform the computer restart operation. Wait for the initial screen to disappear. To perform the procedure for entering safe mode, press the function key F8.
Step 2
Go to the Windows Advanced Boot Options menu and select the Safe Mode Without Driver Signature Verification command.
Step 3
Apply the selected changes by pressing the Enter function key and select the operating system you are using in the re-opened boot menu.
Step 4
Confirm the command by pressing the Enter function key and try to start the DVD drive.
Step 5
Call the main menu of the Windows 7 operating system by clicking the "Start" button. Go to "Run" to fix the issue with starting the DVD drive using an alternate method using the Registry Editing Tool.
Step 6
Type regedit on the Open line. Click OK to confirm the launch of the Registry Editor utility. This action implies the availability of administrator access to system resources.
Step 7
Expand the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESystemCurrentControlSetControlClass {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} registry key and find the Upper Filters and Lower Filters keys.
Step 8
Completely delete the found parameters and close the Registry Editor utility.
Step 9
Restart your computer to save your changes and try starting the DVD drive again.

Do not forget to create a backup copy of the selected registry branches to be able to restore them in case of unforeseen circumstances, and always remember that incorrect editing of registry entries can lead to the inoperability of the Windows operating system and the need to completely reinstall it.
