The appearance of the desktop, the size of icons and fonts on it, the size of icons in the windows that open, the appearance of open documents and running programs depend on which screen settings are selected. To reduce the image on the monitor, you need to perform a number of actions.
Instructions
Step 1
Open the "Properties: Display" window. To do this, choose one of the methods below. From the Start menu, go to Control Panel, select Appearance and Themes, and click the Display icon, or run the Change Screen Resolution task. Another option: right-click anywhere on the desktop, select Properties from the drop-down menu by clicking on it with any mouse button.
Step 2
In the dialog box that opens, go to the "Options" tab, in the "Screen Resolution" section, use the sliders to set the desired resolution. Moving the "slider" to the right allows you to reduce the image on the monitor, moving to the left - increases it. Click the Apply button for the settings to take effect. Evaluate the result in a few seconds. If it suits you, confirm the change of parameters.
Step 3
If the icons on the desktop look too large, go to the Appearance tab. Click the Effects button and uncheck the box opposite the Apply Large Icons line. Click OK in the Effects window. To customize the size of the icons to your liking, use the "Advanced" button. In the drop-down list, select the "Icon" item and put your value in the field opposite. Click the Apply button. Close the window by clicking on the OK button or the X icon in the upper right corner of the window.
Step 4
If you want to make the icons on the Start menu smaller, open the Taskbar and Start Menu Properties window. To do this, from the "Start" menu, open "Control Panel", in the "Appearance and Themes" section, select the "Taskbar and Start Menu" icon. For the same purposes, right-click anywhere on the taskbar, select Properties from the drop-down menu, or press alt="Image" and Enter.
Step 5
Go to the "Start Menu" tab, click the "Customize" button. In the dialog box that opens, set a marker in the "Small icons" box in the "Icon size for programs" section. Click the OK button to close the preferences window and the Apply button in the properties window. Close the properties window by clicking the OK button or the X icon in the upper corner of the window.
