Instructions

Step 1

Because the operating system registry is the only repository of all settings; before editing it, you must make a backup copy of both the registry files themselves and individual branches that will be edited. To start the registry editor in Windows Seven, you must click the "Start" menu and move the cursor to the search bar, enter the name of the program (regedit) in the line and press the Enter key.

Step 2

To enter the registry editor, you must log in as an administrator. Follow this step and click the "Yes" button. The main window of the program will appear in front of you. On the left side of the window there are registry branches, and on the right side the keys that are in their folders will be displayed.

Step 3

Navigation in the program is carried out using the directory tree, which is located on the left side of the program (registry branch). To open one of the registry branches, click on the "+" sign, you can close the branch by the same action on the "-" sign. To create your own values in the right part of the window, you must right-click on an empty space and select "New".

Step 4

Now you can consider the work in the registry editor with specific examples. Press the key combination alt="Image" + Tab - you will see the quick navigation bar. Its settings can be edited in the registry of the operating system. Open the HKEY_CURRENT_USERControl PanelDesktop folder. Find the CoolSwitchColumns parameter in the right part of the program window - it is responsible for the number of columns in the quick navigation bar between programs. And the CoolSwitchRows parameter is responsible for the number of rows. To make changes to one of the parameters, you must double-click the left mouse button on it and enter your number in the window that opens.

Step 5

Windows Seven 64-bit has a slideshow (splash screen) setting. Its parameters are edited in the HKEY_CURRENT_USERControl PanelPersonalizationDesktop Slideshow folder. Find the AnimationDuration parameter in the right part of the window - setting the number of milliseconds for a smooth transition from one image to another. Changing the value of this parameter is done in the same way as in the previous example.

Step 6

Changes are saved automatically when you click on the "OK" button. Therefore, no action is required to save the registry settings.
