If the Windows operating system is unstable, often reboots or freezes for no reason, many in such cases immediately begin to reinstall the OS. You don't have to do it right away. Very often, unstable operation of the operating system occurs due to the absence of system files. You can try to restore Windows to normal operation and restore system files using the command line.

Instructions

Step 1

Click Start. In the menu that appears, select "All Programs". From the list of programs select "Accessories", then - "Command line". At the command prompt, type sfc.exe / and press Enter. A system file scan will start. If the system detects that the required files are missing, if possible, they will be restored from the offline directory of the operating system. After this procedure, close Command Prompt and restart your computer. This file recovery command works on all operating systems.

Step 2

If your operating system is Windows XP and it does not start at all and you do not have access to the command line, you need to start it in safe mode. To do this, turn on your computer and press the F8 key continuously. A menu of options for starting the operating system appears. Select "Safe Mode with Command Prompt" as the startup option. Wait for the operating system to start in safe mode. Please note that the boot process for Windows in this mode can be quite long, the screen may become dark and at first glance it may seem that the computer is frozen. But this is not the case.

Step 3

When the operating system boots up, the desktop will say "Safe Mode". Most of the basic functions are not available in Safe Mode.

Step 4

Go to the command line as described above and enter "% systemroot% / system32 / restore / strui.exe". Then press Enter. The operating system "Recovery Wizard" appears. Then just follow all his prompts.

Step 5

If nothing happens after entering the command, then you do not need to copy the command, but enter it manually. After the "Recovery Wizard" completes its work, restart your computer and enter the system already in normal mode. If everything went well, the operating system should be stable.
