At the same time, millions of computers are working on the Internet. To identify them, an IP addressing system was introduced, thanks to which each computer connected to the network has a unique network address. Sometimes a user needs to find out what IP is assigned to his computer.
It is necessary
- - IP determination service;
- - the ability to use the console.
Instructions
Step 1
Use specialized online services to determine the IP address of your computer. Having entered such a site, you will immediately see your IP. This method can be considered the simplest. In addition, it will show you exactly the IP under which your computer is seen on the network - that is, the external address. There are a lot of IP determination services, you can use any suitable one. To find such a service, open a search engine and enter the query "find out my IP address".
Step 2
Open "Control Panel" then "Network Connections". Find the shortcut for the existing connection and double-click it. Then go to the "Properties" tab. It will also indicate the IP. But this will be an internal IP - that is, the one under which your ISP sees you.
Step 3
Navigate to: "Start" - "All Programs" - "Accessories" - "Command Prompt". In the console that opens, enter the ipconfig / all command and press Enter. You will see a ton of information including the internal IP.
Step 4
Do not forget that IP is static and dynamic. In the first case, you always have the same IP address, it does not change when you turn on your computer again and connect to the Internet. In some cases it is convenient - for example, if you are the owner of the site, then in the settings of the administrator panel you can specify the binding by IP. In this case, no one will be able to enter the admin panel under your credentials, since the IP will not match. The disadvantage of a permanent address is that if someone wants to hack your computer and knows its IP, they will have a lot of time to carry out their plans - after all, your computer address does not change.
Step 5
A dynamic IP, as opposed to a static one, changes on every connection. The anonymity of such a connection is very high - as a rule, it is enough to disconnect from the network and reconnect, and you will already be working under a different IP. But at the same time, do not forget that the provider always knows under which address you worked at one time or another.
