It so happens that the mirror element of the side mirror of the car fails. Whatever the reason - an accident, corrosion, or just a replacement for a better one - you must be able to correctly remove the element from the case. In fact, it's easier than it sounds.
Instructions
Step 1
Adjust the mirror element with the adjusting handle. Find a position so that a screwdriver fits between the element and the body. Flip off the mirror element with a screwdriver. Do this carefully so as not to break the mirror or damage the case. The fact is that the mirror element itself is placed in a plastic frame, which is attached to the mechanism with simple latches. Therefore, you just need to pick up the mirror from the edge and pull it out.
Step 2
Slide a ribbon or piece of cloth under the mirror element and pull it out. This can be done in the same way by adjusting the element with the adjusting handle to a comfortable position. You can also use a regular supermarket bag.
Step 3
Slide both handles along the sides of the mirror and pull slightly to engage the latches. As a rule, it helps in emergency situations when nothing suitable is at hand.
Step 4
If you have heated mirrors, be careful when you lift the mirror off the body. To avoid breaking the heating wires, carefully flip off the mirror and disconnect the wires. Reassemble in reverse order. And when replacing with another mirror element, make sure that it provides a heating function.
Step 5
If you have electric mirrors, be careful not to pull out the contacts by the roots when removing the element. In fact, it is easy to remove such a mirror, but to connect everything back … You will have to tinker with the anthers on the plastic correctors in order to re-tighten them.
Step 6
When you put the mirror element back on, never press hard on it. Otherwise, you will either break the mounting mechanism or crush the mirror itself. Remember about such features of the side mirror as auto adjustment and heating, so as not to forget to connect the necessary contacts.
