Almost always, system units of desktop computers have connectors duplicated on the rear and front panels for connecting external audio devices, including headphones. The connectors on the back are located directly on the motherboard or audio card, while the front connectors are plugged in separately when assembling the computer. If you plan to use headphones all the time, then it is more convenient to use one of the connectors on the back of the system unit for this.
Instructions
Step 1
Position the system unit so that you can visually control the process of connecting to the rear panel, not by touch - you will need to see not only the location of the jacks, but also their color coding. It is not necessary to turn off the computer in this case, but if you cannot get access to the back of the system unit without disconnecting the wires, then temporarily shut it down.
Step 2
Find the correct slot. If the connecting cable of the headphones to be connected has a narrow plug (miniJack) at the end, then you need to find a jack of the same diameter, marked with green (salad) color marking. If the plug has a larger diameter (3.5mm) than the connector (2.5mm), then you will have to additionally purchase the appropriate adapter (40-100r.). If the headphone connecting cable ends with a flat USB connector, then there is no need to select a specific USB connector on the rear panel, they are equivalent.
Step 3
Boot your computer if you turned it off. If not, then wait a few seconds for the operating system to detect the new connected device. As a rule, the user is not required to do anything else, the headphones will be ready for use immediately after that.
Step 4
If, after connecting the headphones, there is no sound at all or only one channel works, then there may be several reasons. One of them is that the motherboard has a built-in audio card that cannot work with the standard driver of the operating system installed in your computer. Most often, this problem is solved by installing the Realtec HD driver, which can be found in the software bundle of the purchased headphones or motherboard. It is not difficult to find it on the Internet as well - it is free software, which is freely available from the manufacturer.
