A set of microphone with headphones is usually referred to in one word as "headset". Computer headsets can be connected to the system unit in several ways, depending on the computer used and the type of headset itself. Tower computer cases have corresponding connectors on both the rear and front panels. Using the front panel is more convenient, since the system unit is not a hut on chicken legs and, alas, does not understand the command “stand in front of the forest, but back to me”.

Instructions

Step 1

Plug the receiving device into the front USB port if you are using a wireless headset. If there are several such connectors, choose any, it does not matter for the device's performance. When you do this, the operating system will detect the newly connected device and try to select a driver for it from its database. If it fails, a corresponding message will be displayed on the screen.

Step 2

Insert the optical disc into the reader, which should be in the shipping box with the headset and receiver. If the OS was unable to detect the receiving device, then install the required driver yourself. As a rule, after inserting the disc, a menu appears on the screen, by selecting the installation operation, you run the corresponding program, and it will do everything by itself - you will only need to press the confirmation buttons. After the installation process is completed, the OS will try to identify the receiving device using the new driver, and this will complete the procedure for connecting a wireless headset via the USB port on the front panel.

Step 3

Insert one of the mini-jack plugs first into its corresponding connector on the front panel if you are using a wired headset. The plugs and connectors are color coded the same, so it will be difficult to mix them up. It is better not to insert the plugs into the connectors at the same time, since depending on the operating system and motherboard used, you may need to answer the dialog questions that the installation wizard will ask after detecting a new microphone or headphones.

Step 4

If the microphone or headphones do not work after connecting the corresponding wires on the front panel, then you will need to change the corresponding OS settings yourself. For example, on Windows Vista and Windows 7, you might need to launch Control Panel, go to the Sound section, and then to the Recording tab. There, right-click the free space of the window and set the checkboxes in the "Show Disabled Devices" and "Show Disconnected Devices" fields. After that, select the item "Default device" in the appeared microphone section. A similar operation must be performed on the "Playback" tab for the headphones.
