BIOS of many companies has a built-in setup program, thanks to which you can easily change the system configuration, including adjusting the operating memory modes. This information is written into a special area of non-volatile memory on the motherboard called CMOS. Configuring RAM using BIOS Setup is quite simple and intuitive.

Instructions
Step 1
Changing the RAM settings is done by setting the appropriate values in the BIOS setup program and then saving them. Often, setting the default operating mode of RAM means the system is stable. But in some cases, it is required to increase the speed of the system, for this purpose the RAM is configured in the BIOS Setup. This is quite realistic and usually does not affect the stability of the computer in any way.
Step 2
To start configuring RAM, first go to BIOS Setup. This is usually done by pressing the Delete button, but other BIOSes may need to press a different key or key combination such as F2 or CTRL-ALT-ESC.
Step 3
All the necessary parameters that control the modes of memory operation are concentrated in the BIOS Setup menu called Advanced Chipset Setup. Go into it to configure the RAM settings. All the required parameters are listed below.
Step 4
Auto Configuration - automatic setting of the RAM operation parameters, it is recommended to use it if an incorrect setting was made during the experiments, but you cannot remember which one. To make corrections to the RAM (random access memory) settings, turn off this option. DRAM Read Timing - shows the number of cycles in the process of accessing RAM, the less it is, the higher the system performance. CAS Delay - although the essence of this parameter differs from the previous one, it also makes sense to set the minimum value to maximize performance.
Step 5
When setting up, know when to stop - too aggressive reduction of cycles (timings) and latencies can negatively affect the stability of the computer, so it is better for experiments to choose high-quality memory with a margin of speed. After finishing the process of changing the memory configuration, do not forget to save the settings in BIOS Setup. Then you can restart your computer.
