Instructions
Step 1
Usually this method is used when setting up an office network. If it is necessary to block access to the Internet for certain PCs, then the necessary parameters are indicated in the router settings. First, connect and configure your network equipment. Connect the cable provided by your ISP to its Internet (WAN) connector.
Step 2
Now connect computers or laptops to the required LAN connectors. Sometimes routers are used to connect network printers. Please note that this requires a special connector for the above equipment.
Step 3
Open the web interface of the router settings. To do this, launch a browser on any computer connected to the network device. Now fill in the url input field with the router's IP address. Press the Enter key. Enter the username and password required to access the device settings. You can find this information by reading the user manual for your network equipment.
Step 4
Open the Internet menu (WAN, Internet Connection Setup). Configure the connection of the router to the provider's server. Do not forget to select the type of data transfer protocol and specify the correct username and password values. Save the settings of the network equipment. Reload it.
Step 5
Repeat the procedure for entering the web interface of the router settings. For ASUS and Cisco devices, the Connection Settings menu will display the devices connected to the router. If you need to disable or enable a specific port, then click the Disable or Enable button next to the corresponding device.
Step 6
If you need to provide access to a local resource for a specific port, then go to the Route Table menu. Specify the values of the IP addresses of the computer to which you want to open the port and the server to which it needs to connect. Restart your device with the changes applied.
