Step 1
The second monitor is connected to the computer using any suitable cable for the model - VGA, DVI or HDMI. It is enough to connect the cable to the corresponding connector of the monitor and video card of a laptop or desktop computer.
Step 2
Windows will automatically detect the new monitor and display a notification on the screen. You will then be able to open the settings window to select options for using the secondary display. In the settings window, options are available to duplicate the image on a second monitor or extend the desktop to launch applications separately from the main screen.
Step 3
You can use various applications to connect your laptop as a desktop monitor. Among the most popular free programs of this type is ZoneOS. There is also Synergy, which allows you to use the keyboard and mouse from the host computer to access the laptop screen, which is equivalent to using a second display as a separate application launcher.
Step 4
Download the program you like, install and configure it. Computers must be connected to the same work network, via cable or Wi-Fi. Each utility of this type consists of two parts - server and client. The server side is installed on the host computer, while the client side must be configured on the connected laptop.
Step 5
After installation, launch the program using the shortcut on the desktop and go to the settings section. First, the server-side parameters on the computer are adjusted. Follow the instructions on the screen to configure.
Step 6
Run the utility on the connected laptop and enter the IP address of the server computer, which can be found in the program settings, in the network information section. Save the parameters. Installation completed.
