Programs for recording a video stream from a monitor screen are necessary when you often have to demonstrate a certain set of sequential operations to users, or, for example, create visual video instructions and lessons on a variety of topics, one way or another devoted to working at a computer. It is easy to record video from the monitor screen, and special utilities will help us with this.
Instructions
Step 1
There are quite a few programs that give the user the ability to record from a computer screen. Among them are CamStudio, Free Screen Video Recorder, Debut Video Capture, Hyper Cam, UVScreenCamera, Total Screen Recorder and others. As usual, many of these programs are paid and distributed for free use with limited functionality for a trial period. Others, on the contrary, are absolutely free, and, in comparison with their commercial competitors, in terms of a set of functions and quality of work, they are in no way inferior to the latter. In order to record from the screen, we will use the free CamStudio program, which can be downloaded from the website https://camstudio.org/. When installed, the program only takes up about 8 megabytes of hard disk space
Step 2
After starting the program, we will see a small window with shortcut buttons and menus. By default, the program is ready to record video from the screen without additional settings. All that remains to choose is the recording area in the “Region” menu: Full Screen recording or a specific area. You can set the area by entering its coordinates vertically and horizontally, as well as the width and height of the recording window, or by marking a certain area on the screen before starting recording with the mouse pointer.
Step 3
To start recording (square), the program will prompt you to enter the name of the resulting video file and select a location to save. Then it will open the resulting file in the player, where it can be played.
Step 4
In addition, with the help of this program, you can record not only the video sequence, but also the audio accompaniment of what is happening on the screen. To do this, in the “Options” menu, you need to select the source of sound recording from a microphone or from computer speakers. Thus, the video instruction will become more interesting and informative.
