The speed settings set by the user affect the overall operation of the Internet, so if you set them incorrectly, it can not only slow down, but also stop working altogether. There are no uniform settings - they differ depending on the type of connection you are using. If you need to adjust the speed of a network card, for example, increase it, follow the instructions below.

Step 1
To get started, open the list of network connections and right-click on the icon of the required network (local) connection. In the context menu, click on the item "Properties" - you will see a small window with a number of tabs. Select the one that is responsible for the settings of the hardware of your PC with a click of the mouse. Click on the button called "Settings" that appears below the icon for the network adapter you are using.

In the properties window of the network card, activate the tab with additional hardware settings. The next window will appear, where the parameters of your Internet connection will be displayed. On the right you will see the values that have been assigned to them.

Next, you need to find a menu item called "Line Speed and Duplex Mode". These or those values for the equipment are also indicated. The name, depending on the manufacturer of the network card, can take the form Duplex Mode, Connection type, Media type, Link speed, etc. Regarding the name, as well as the settings for your specific model of the network card (if the principle of working with it radically differs from the accepted standards), you will learn all the details from the user manual, which usually comes with the equipment.
Step 4
To increase the speed of the network card, set the value you need. Let's say there was 1 MB, and you put 10 MB. However, everything here depends on some factors. It is likely that your existing Internet connection will require some special settings. And to find out them, you will need to contact the technical support service of your provider and find out the value that you need to set in the speed of the Internet connection.
Step 5
If you are faced with such a problem as the inability to open a port or an invalid username / password, also check the specified connection speed settings, because they must correspond to the required ones.
