Passwords tend to be forgotten and lost, and this also applies to computer logon passwords. However, life does not end there, and you can still log into your home computer, and even without reinstalling the operating system.
Necessary
- - thin screwdriver;
- - jumper.
Instructions
Step 1
BIOS password is a traditional way to protect your PC from unauthorized unauthorized interference. There are two ways to flash the BIOS without additional technical tools. Both of them are quite affordable and require little effort.
The first way. BIOS settings are located in CMOS memory. To clear the CMOS memory, turn off your PC and install a jumper that will short the jumper pins.
After that, turn on the PC - it will not boot, but the settings in CMOS will be reset to zero.
Remove the jumper and turn on the PC again. A window will appear on the monitor asking you to press F1 - this is necessary in order to perform a new setting of BIOS parameters.
If you like the default settings, press the F1 key, select the “Save and exit” button in the BIOS menu and click on it. Your PC will boot completely.
And if you want - enter your personal settings and after that select the "Save and exit" button.
Step 2
The second method is good for all motherboards.
Your PC is turned off, but even when it is off, its motherboard is powered by a small battery located on the board. This helps the PC remember the BIOS settings, including the computer login password.
Unplug your PC from the outlet - this is a must Carefully remove the left cover of the system unit and find the battery - it is clearly visible, you can easily find it.
Use a screwdriver to remove the battery and put it back in a couple of minutes. BIOS password is cleared.
Replace the case cover.
If the BIOS cannot independently determine which media your operating system will boot from, write it down.
