Microsoft's Windows 7 operating system has one somewhat annoying component. We are talking about the User Support Center, which monitors many aspects of computer use and persistently suggests taking certain actions. Also, this add-on is very vulnerable to the actions of an intruder or just an inexperienced user. Therefore, in many cases, it is preferable to disable the support center.
Instructions
Step 1
Click the Start button. Below you will see a window with a line for entering a command, write services.msc in it and press the Enter key or the OK button. This will launch the system console to control the startup and operation of services. Scroll the list on the right side of the window to the very bottom. Find the line that says "Security Center" and double-click on this item. The properties window will open, through which you can define the parameters for the operation of this service.
Step 2
Select Disabled from the drop-down list under the Startup Type heading. This element is in the center of the window. To access the list, simply left-click on the "Auto Start" label, which is selected by default. Then click the "Apply" button - this is necessary to save the changes made. Click OK to close the editing window and close the service settings section.
Step 3
Open the notification about the disconnection of the "Support Center". Immediately after turning off the service, you will see a pop-up message about a new "problem" with the computer in the right corner of the window. Click on it or on the checkbox in the system area near the clock. Click on the link "Open Support Center" and activate the "Configure Support Center" command, which is located on the right side of the window. You will see a window with several checkboxed options. Uncheck all the boxes and click OK to save the settings.
Step 4
Restart your computer via the Start menu, the Restart option. Once launched, you will most likely no longer see any traces of the Action Center. If this is not the case and some alerts continue to appear, you need to use the system registry.
Step 5
Open Registry Editor. To do this, click the "Start" button and select the "Run" menu. Enter regedit in an empty line and click OK. A Windows Registry window will open. Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsWindows Error Reporting. To do this, sequentially open the HKEY_CURRENT_USER registry key, then the Software key, the Microsoft group and the Windows subgroup in it.
Step 6
Click the mouse pointer on the bottom line labeled Windows Error Reporting. In the right half of the window, you will see a list of registry settings that are responsible for handling errors and messages to users. Double-click DisableQueue and enter the number 1 in the Value field, and then click OK. Do the same with the DontShowUI parameter. Close Registry Editor.
Step 7
Disable the Action Center icon. To do this, open the panel for editing system group policies - click the "Start" button and enter the command gpedit.msc in the "Find programs and files" line. Open the "User Configuration" section, go to the "Administrative Templates" group and select "Start Menu and Taskbar".
Step 8
On the right side of the console, find the option "Remove Action Center Icon" and double-click it. An editing window will open, in which check the "Enable" option and click the "Apply" button. Close the Group Policy Console and restart your computer. The support center is now completely disabled.
