Necessary

  • - Windows XP
  • - Microsoft Diagnostic and Recovery Toolset;
  • - Emergency Repair Disk (ERD) Commander

Instructions

Step 1

Create a bootable disk with ERD Commander utility.

Step 2

Boot your computer from the created disk and select System Tools from the ERD Commander application menu.

Step 3

Go to System Restore and click Next on the welcome screen.

Step 4

Select Select Roll back to an existing restore point created by Windows. ERD System Restore Wizard only performs a partial rollback and click Next to execute the command.

Step 5

Select the desired recovery date in the next wizard window and click Next to confirm your choice.

Step 6

Click the Next button in the confirmation window that opens and wait for the restoration process to complete.

Step 7

Complete the wizard. It should be borne in mind that the ERD Commander utility does not provide a complete system recovery and after its use, a recovery process is required using standard WIndows methods.

Step 8

Log on to the system as a computer administrator.

Step 9

Click the "Start" button to bring up the main menu and go to the "All Programs" item.

Step 10

Select the "Standard" item in the drop-down menu and go to the "Utilities" item.

Step 11

Select the "System Restore" command.

Step 12

Select the check box next to Restore to an earlier system state in the System Restore dialog box and click Next to confirm your choice.

Step 13

Specify the desired date for Windows to return to a working state in the "Select a restore point from the list" list in the "Select a restore point" window and click the "Next" button to confirm your choice.

Step 14

Click the Next button in the new Confirm Recovery Checkpoint Selection window to execute the selected command.

Step 15

Wait until the system restore process finishes and Windows automatically restarts.

Step 16

Log on to the system with administrator rights and click OK in the "Recovery completed" window that opens.
