Computers united into one local network should not only belong to the same group, but also have different names. To make your computer name unique so that others can find you on the network, you need to change the default name created.
Instructions
Step 1
First of all, you should come up with the name itself. After that, you need to right-click on the "My Computer" icon and select the "Properties" menu bar. A dialog box will open, where you should be interested in the "Computer name" section. Press the "Change" button and write a new name. Here you can also change the workgroup your computer belongs to.
Step 2
If you do not find the My Computer icon, there is a different way to access the Computer Name tab in the Properties dialog box. Click on "Start", go to "Control Panel" and select the "Performance and Maintenance" section. Find the icon with the name "System" - this is what you need.
