Necessary

  • - Computer with Windows OS;
  • - TuneUp Utilities 2011 program.

Instructions

Step 1

The most convenient way to rename is to use TuneUp Utilities 2011. Download it from the Internet. The program is paid, but there is a free trial period for its use. Install the application to your computer hard drive.

Step 2

Run the program. The first time TuneUp runs, it scans the system for problems. After the scan is complete, you will be prompted to fix the found problems and optimize the system. If you wish, you can agree. This operation will only take a few minutes and will certainly not interfere with your system.

Step 3

After the optimization is complete, you will find yourself in the main menu of the program. Select the Windows Settings tab. A window will appear with two sections. You need the section on the left. It's called "Change the way Windows looks". Find the Windows Personalization component in this section. Open this component.

Step 4

A window will appear in which there will also be several sections. You need the "Icons" section, in it find the "System Items" option. Select this component with the left mouse button.

Step 5

After that, a list of system icons will appear in the right window of the program. Select the "My Computer" component with the left mouse click. On the right, there is a section called Tasks. In this section, find the Change Name task. Select it.

Step 6

A window will appear informing you that you can rename the system icon. At the bottom there is a line with the current name of the element. Delete the current name and write a new one. Click OK. After that, in the lower right corner of the program window, click "Apply". The new element name will be saved. You can close all windows of the program.

Step 7

If necessary, you can return the old element name at any time. Or if you get tired of one name, you can rename this element again at any time.
