Shortcuts are used to get quick access to programs or files and are usually located on the desktop. Since many users want the desktop to look more impressive, the question arises whether it is possible to change the shortcut icon to another that will be more beautiful and better fit into the desktop background. This is not only possible, but also quite easy.
Necessary
- - a computer with Windows OS;
- - TuneUp Utilities 2011 program.
Instructions
Step 1
Right-click on the shortcut whose icon you want to change. A context menu will appear, in which select "Properties". In the menu that appears, click on the "Change Icon" button. A window will pop up in which there will be several options for icons that match the type of file that this shortcut refers to.
Step 2
If you haven't picked anything up for yourself among these icons, then click on the browse button. After that, select one of the icons that are on your hard drive. Then click OK and Apply.
Step 3
You can also use TuneUp Utilities 2011 to change the shortcut icons. The advantage of the application is that there are many additional icons in its folders that are not in the operating system. Accordingly, you will have a wider choice.
Step 4
Download TuneUp from the Internet and install it on your computer. Run the program. After completing the scan of your system, you will be taken to the main menu of the application. In it, go to the "Windows Settings" tab. On the left side of the window is the "Change Windows appearance" section. In this section, find "Windows Personalization".
Step 5
In the window that appears, find the "Icons" section. Then select the item "Icon view". In this window, you can configure some parameters for displaying the shortcut icons, for example, remove the image of the arrow on it.
Step 6
Then go to the "System Items" tab. The window that appears will be split into several sections. Based on the icon of which you need to change the shortcut, respectively, and select the section. If you need to change, for example, the shortcut icon on the desktop, then you should select the "Desktop" section.
Step 7
After that, select the desired shortcut with the left mouse button. Then, under Task, select Change Icon. A window with icons will open. Select the one you want and click OK, then “Apply”.
