The number of computers installed in some organizations sometimes exceeds dozens. If it becomes necessary to transfer files to all users of the local network, the best solution would be to create full access to a specific directory on the host machine.
Necessary
Operating system Windows XP
Instructions
Step 1
On large local area networks, folder sharing (getting shared access) is a common occurrence. But users of home networks do not encounter this so often, so they often have questions about how to solve this problem.
Step 2
It's pretty easy to activate the Share option. First of all, you need to log in with an administrator account for this system. If you haven't already, click the Start menu and select Log Out. In the window that opens, click on the "Change user" icon and confirm your choice.
Step 3
Next, select the desired account and left-click on it, not forgetting that you may need an administrator password. Now you need to find the directory you want to share. To do this, open "Windows Explorer", on the desktop, double-click on the icon "My Computer".
Step 4
Once you find this directory, use its context menu: right-click and select "Sharing and Security". Also, the applet that appears can be called through the "Properties" command of the context menu. In the window that opens, go to the "Access" tab.
Step 5
There are "Local Sharing and Security" and "Network Sharing and Security" blocks, each of which will help you achieve the desired directory sharing. But for networks with the Internet, the second option is recommended. Check the box next to "Share this folder". In the blank Share Name field, enter your preferred directory name, for example, "Everyone download from here" or "Files are here."
Step 6
It remains to put a checkmark in front of the line "Allow changing files over the network" so that each user can copy and edit files inside this directory. Click the "OK" button and look at the appearance of the directory icon, a palm image appears below it, which means the resource is shared.
