By default, the Windows 7 operating system does not display hidden and system files, but they can be viewed, for example, using the Far and Total Commander programs. This is done for security reasons, because modifying system files can cause severe system failure. To display hidden and system files and folders, you need to make the appropriate settings, while their appearance will differ from ordinary files.
Instructions
Step 1
Open the "Control Panel" window, on the left side of the window, select "Appearance and Personalization" and follow the link "Show hidden files and folders".
Step 2
The Folder Options window opens. Go to the "View" tab. To show hidden Windows objects, select the Show hidden files, folders, and drives radio button.
Step 3
To display the system files and folders of the system, uncheck the option "Hide protected system files", and a warning will be displayed about opening access to system and hidden files, click "Yes".
