Modern Microsoft Windows operating systems use a flexible system for working with video - DirectShow (formerly called ActiveMovie). Any player program that uses the DirectShow interface can automatically use other system components: audio decoders, video decoders, splitter audio / video streams from different file formats. This allows each user to create a subsystem for working with video from various elements at his own discretion.

Instructions
Step 1
Set up your computer to watch avi video. Set the video settings for the DivX Networks decoder. Launch the Media Player Classic program, select a video file, and this decoder will start automatically, find its icon in the tray. Right-click on it and select "Properties". Set the following video settings: Automatic post-processing - select the Partial option; the Film effect parameter can add "film noise", which will add an effect to the video viewing, and hide the compression defects, set to your taste; Smooth playback - OFF; YUV extended - ON; Overlay extended - ON; Double buffering - OFF; Disable Logo - optionally enable or disable the display of the logo at the beginning of video playback; Support Generic MPEG-4. Save the settings for the video by clicking the "OK" button.
Step 2
Configure the XviD codec for video viewing. Go to the codec configuration, adjust the post-processing level, it can add noise. You can change the video settings in this codec while watching a movie, if the video starts to twitch or slow down, skip frames, reduce the post-processing level, since the processor cannot cope with decoding this recording with such quality. To do this, turn off video processing algorithms in the post-processing section. Also go to the FourCC Support section and enable video decoding support.
Step 3
Change video settings in ffDShow decoder. This decoder provides minimal processor load when watching video. It is versatile. Select and adjust the filter you need: brightness / contrast, noise elimination / addition, sharpen, set blur, perspective correction. Enable subtitle support as needed. Next to the field "Automatic adjustment of simple processing" check the box, the decoder copes with this function.
Step 4
Download and install the popular K-Lite Codec Pack, which comes in a variety of sizes. This pack will allow you to change the video settings of various decoders in one place.
