The default input language in Windows is selected by the user during the installation of the operating system or is activated automatically when the country of use of the personal computer is selected.
Instructions
Step 1
To change the input language when typing in a window, document or any program, press the Alt + Shift key combination on the keyboard. If you have changed the settings for switching the language on the computer, the keyboard shortcut "Ctrl + Shift" can be selected.

You can also change the keyboard layout by clicking on the language icon (usually “RU” or “EN”) on the right side of the Windows taskbar and selecting the required input language from the list that appears.

If the required input language is not in the list of default languages, then it must be added. To do this, open the "Start" menu and in the "Find programs and files" line enter the query text "language".
Step 4
In the list of search results that appears in the "Control Panel" block, left-click once on the line "Change keyboard layout or other input methods". The Regional and Language settings window opens with the Languages and Keyboards tab enabled.
Step 5
Click on the "Change keyboard …" button once with the left mouse button. The Languages and Text Input Services preferences dialog box appears. Activate the General tab, which shows the default input language settings and a list of languages used on the personal computer.
Step 6
In the "Installed services" section, click the "Add …" button and in the list that appears, select one or more input languages that you want to add. To do this, check the boxes opposite the required languages by clicking on the line with their name once with the left mouse button, and then click the "OK" button.
Step 7
In the block "Input language by default" select a permanent language from the list of available ones.
Step 8
To change the keyboard shortcut used to change the input language, activate the "Switch keyboard" tab and in the "Keyboard shortcuts for input languages" block select the line "Switch input language" and click the button below "Change keyboard shortcut …". In the dialog box that opens, select the desired combination to change the input language and keyboard layout and click the "OK" button.
Step 9
To activate the mode of using hot keys to enable a separate input language from the list of used ones, left-click once on the line "Enable NNN" (where NNN is the name of the input language from the list of installed ones) and click the "Change keyboard shortcut …" button.
Step 10
In the dialog box that appears, check the box next to the "Use keyboard shortcut" line, select the desired keys from the lists provided, and then click the "OK" button.
