The declining cost of printers has led to widespread adoption by home users. And this applies not only to entry-level inkjet printers, which are initially aimed at a mass audience, but also to laser printers, as well as devices for home photo printing. But the owner of the printing device is faced with the question of which paper to choose. After all, there are a lot of varieties of the most popular consumables, both in cost and in properties.
Instructions
Step 1
Read the instructions for your printer. Any device is supplied with a user manual, which necessarily contains recommendations for paper. This is a very important choice, because the print results will depend on its parameters. The main characteristic of paper suitable for a particular printer is its density, it is calculated in grams per square meter - g / m2. This parameter is very important because the sheet pick-up and feed mechanism is designed for media of a certain thickness and density.
Step 2
Check the type of your printing device. For example, for a laser printer, the standard paper weight is 80 g / m2. Substantially heavier paper simply cannot be pulled through by the printer, causing paper jams or chewing. Thinner A4 paper for a printer at retail and small wholesale on the Officemag website with a density of 60 g / m2 will be damaged during the printing process. Color printers are almost always inkjet printers, that is, they print with liquid ink. In this case, a lot depends on the class of the device, that is, there are both the simplest printers for paper with low density and photo printers designed for business card paper, which has a high g / m2 value.
Step 3
For textual information, abstracts, term papers, statements, standard office paper, its density is 80 g / m2, is best suited. You can buy it at any stationery store and its cost is low. For pictures, photographs, paper of a higher density is well suited. The rule applies here: the more part of the sheet will be filled with paint, the thicker paper you need to choose. This applies, first of all, to inkjet printers, since laser ones are less suitable for printing pictures. And, of course, it is worth considering the requirements from the user manual. Do not use paper that is heavier than recommended, otherwise the printer will quickly fail.
Step 4
Decide which is more important: the quality or the price of the print. There are original branded consumables, they are more expensive, but provide a high-quality result. There is also non-original or compatible paper on the market, which is usually more favorable in price, but the result of its use can only be determined experimentally.
Step 5
Consider the nature of what you are going to print. Buy glossy paper for diplomas, flashy announcements - all materials that should grab attention. Matte paper is more suitable for business documents. It is less resistant to splashing water, but gives the print a strong look.
