For many PC users who actively use resource-intensive graphics applications, sooner or later the question of improving the performance of the video card arises. It is not always possible to purchase a new video card, and it is not always advisable. Overclocking and making more accurate graphics settings for the driver and the applications used will help improve performance in games.

Instructions

Step 1

Download and install RivaTuner and ATITool apps. RivaTuner allows you to change the frequency of the memory and video card cores, while ATITool will help you in testing the specified parameters.

Step 2

Install the latest stable version of the video card driver, which can be downloaded from the official website of the adapter manufacturer.

Step 3

After installing the required applications, restart your computer and launch RivaTuner. Open the monitoring window by clicking on the button next to the item with the name of the video card and selecting the appropriate menu.

Step 4

Return to the main application window. Click on the button next to the name of the driver and select "System settings". Go to the Overclocking tab. Select Enable Driver-Level Overclocking. In the pop-up window, click the "Definition" button.

Step 5

Move the core frequency slider about 70MHz to the right. Click the OK button. Start the ATITool program, in which click the "Scan for Artifacts" button. If the setting is valid, then in the pop-up window with the image there will be an inscription “No Errors for…”.

Step 6

You can slightly increase the core frequency again and repeat the check with ATITool. If an error message appears and the test fails, then you need to return to the Riva Tuner window and decrease the frequency to such a value, at which the window will not show any errors.

Step 7

Apply the optimal values, check the "Load settings from Windows" checkbox. Click OK. Performance has been increased.

Step 8

Go to the driver control panel by right-clicking on the desktop and selecting the appropriate item. Select the 3D Settings menu. In the window that opens, select the application you need to configure. All the necessary parameters are in the "Specify Settings" item. Reduce the Texture Filtering - Quality value to increase performance.

Step 9

Also, if necessary, make changes to the game settings in the appropriate item, which is usually called "Graphics Settings". Decrease the indicated values with mouse clicks.
