Overheating of the processor is one of the most common problems in the computer. And if in the system unit users can still figure it out on their own, then in laptops for which overheating is, rather, a common phenomenon after a few months of work, the situation is more complicated.
Instructions
Step 1
To clean the fan cooling the processor in the system unit, power off the computer and remove the side case cover. Then you can go in two ways: • Remove the cooler, clean it and replace the thermal paste;
• Clean the fan by removing only the impeller.
Step 2
To remove and clean the fan, disconnect the power cable to the motherboard. The cooler can be fixed above the processor in several ways: locks, clamps, screws. Release it from the mount and pull it out of the system unit.
Step 3
Use a vacuum cleaner and a dust brush to remove any debris from the cooler. Lubricate its sole with thermal paste, apply it to the processor, after removing the remnants of the old substance with a napkin, and in the reverse order, fix the cooler in the case of the system unit on the motherboard.
Step 4
Another way to clean the fan is easier. The fan impeller is located under the cooler grill, which, in turn, can also be removed. Unscrew the screws securing the fan grill and carefully remove the impeller. Clean it from dust and dirt, as well as the working area around it in the cooler.
Step 5
Cleaning the fan in a laptop is a little more difficult, but even here you have two options: • Contact a laptop repair and maintenance service;
• Clean the fan yourself by disassembling the laptop.
Step 6
Before disassembling your laptop, download the repair and maintenance manual from the manufacturer's website. Laptops of different models and firms differ in design features and methods of dismantling components. It is possible that you will have to disassemble the laptop 90% to gain free access to the cooling system and clean the fan.
