Automatic updating of applications allows maintaining their code in accordance with the current version on the developer's server without any effort on the part of the program user. But, of course, the user is the owner of his computer and has the ability to enable and disable any processes at his discretion. This also applies to the auto-update option of the graphics editor Adobe Photoshop.
Instructions
Step 1
Start the graphics editor, open the "Help" section in its menu and select the "Updates" item. This will launch the Application Manager, which is used to update all Adobe Systems applications installed on your computer. Click on "Preferences" in the application window and a list of all currently supported programs will appear on the right side of the window. Uncheck Adobe Photoshop and click Finish.
Step 2
Another way to disable updates uses the native capabilities of the operating system and does not require the launch of a graphical editor. Run the utility for configuring autorun programs and operating system boot control - MSConfig. If Photoshop is installed on a computer running Windows 7 or Vista, click Win, type msconfig, and press Enter. In the same versions and earlier releases of the OS, you can use the program launch dialog - press the Win + R key combination, enter the same name and press the same key.
Step 3
In the utility window that opens, go to the "Startup" tab and find the line Adobe Updater Startup Utility in the "Startup item" column. Uncheck the checkbox of this line and click the OK button. The utility will display a message stating that a restart is required for such changes to take effect - choose to restart immediately or postpone it until the next time you turn on the computer.
Step 4
If you have a firewall installed on your computer, you can use it to prevent a program from accessing the Internet. The sequence of actions in this case will depend on the type of computer protection application used. For example, when using AVG Internet Security, click on the program icon in the system tray to open its control panel and click on the Firewall icon. Then find the Advanced Settings link and use it to open the list of applications provided by the firewall.
Step 5
Find Adobe Photoshop in the Application Name column and click on the caption in the cell to the right of it. A list will open in which you need to select the "Block" command. Do the same for the AAM Updates Notifier Application line, and optionally for all other lines starting with the word Adobe. Then click the OK button.
