A laptop, like an ATX desktop computer, is triggered by a push button. From rough handling, it can fail. Then, to turn on the machine, you will have to use a surrogate contactor.
Instructions
Step 1
Make sure your computer is out of warranty. Disconnect the power supply and all peripherals from the laptop. Remove the battery.
Step 2
If the button is located under the bezel, pry it open with a screwdriver and remove. You will find the board that houses the controls and LEDs. If there is a button of a suitable size, replace the old one. When soldering, avoid shorting the conductors together and use only neutral flux. If there is no spare button, solder the existing two conductors in parallel and bring them out. To do this, carefully make two thin holes in the false panel. Replace it.
Step 3
Some laptops have the power button on the side. In this case, it is soldered to the motherboard. To access it, disassemble the computer: remove the covers above the display mounts, disconnect its cable located under the false panel, carefully pull out the keyboard and disconnect its ribbon cable, remove all the screws in the bottom cover, after which it will be possible to remove the front cover. Solder two wires parallel to the button and lead them out as above. Reassemble the laptop in reverse order. If you have never disassembled laptop computers before, it is best to do this with a qualified technician for the first time.
Step 4
Replace the battery. Connect your laptop to peripherals and power supply. To turn it on, take a screwdriver with an insulated handle and close the wires brought out to the outside. When doing this, hold the screwdriver by the handle, not by the tip. Do not touch conductors and grounded objects at the same time, as well as devices whose cases are not electrically connected to the laptop case - this can cause an unpleasant electric shock due to the presence of mains voltage leaks.
