Manufacturers of modern system units are constantly upgrading the front panel. After the buttons for turning on and restarting the computer were moved to the front panel, audio and USB connectors followed. But sometimes it happens that the power button of the computer stops working, and the computer needs to be turned on urgently. Without a working power button, the system unit turns into a metal box that does not show signs of life. To revive the system unit, you can turn it on from the inside.

System unit, instructions for the motherboard, "+" screwdriver

Instructions

Step 1

Unfold the system unit with the side facing you. Remove the side cover of the unit, you will not have any problems with this. Most system units are designed so that the side panels can be easily removed. They are usually secured with 2 screws or plastic clips. Use the "+" screwdriver to remove the screws and remove the side wall of the system unit. You need to focus your attention on the cables connected in a ribbon cable that will stretch from the front panel to the motherboard. You should see 4-5 pairs of wires, depending on the configuration of the system unit, there may be more of them.

Step 2

On the connector of each wire that connects to the motherboard, you will see the inscriptions in English. Immediately it is worth weeding out those wires that you do not need at all: the connector with the inscription USB will not be useful to you, just like Reset (computer restart button), HDD Led (hard disk operation indicator), Power LED (power supply on indicator). You need to find a pair of wires labeled on the Power Switch (PW Switch), Power ON, On-Off connector. It all depends on the motherboard manufacturer. Information on the purpose of the connectors can also be found in the instructions for the motherboard.

Step 3

Now pull out the connector that is responsible for turning on the computer. Equip yourself with a ballpoint pen: the thicker the refill, the better. Connect 2 exposed pins (needles) with the tip of a ballpoint pen. The touch must be quick, otherwise the computer will not turn on. If you touch it for a long time (more than 5 seconds), a signal will be sent to the motherboard to turn off the computer. Since your computer is not turned on yet, you have nothing to turn off.

Step 4

After turning on the computer, it is advisable to eliminate the cause of the malfunction of the system unit.
