Often we need to capture this or that event taking place on the screen. In later versions of the Windows operating system, this function is performed by the built-in system application "Scissors". But users of the widespread Windows XP operating system are less fortunate, since this utility is not provided in it.
Instructions
Step 1
When the picture you want appears on the screen, press the Print Screen (PrtSc) key, usually it is located in the upper right corner of the keyboard. This function captures what is happening on the screen and saves the picture to the clipboard. Then, using graphic editors, you can make a file out of this information.
Step 2
Open the Paint program through the "Accessories" program menu. You will see a window with toolbars for image editing and a blank sheet. If the size of the blank sheet exceeds the size of your screen resolution, open the item "Stretch / Skew" in the "Picture" menu and put on the number 1 in both windows of resizing in percentages, save the change. Keep in mind that you are only copying the most recent results saved to the clipboard.
Step 3
Click on the "Edit" menu, select "Paste". You will see a screen shot in the program. If you only want a portion of this image, choose to crop it. On the left toolbar, select "Rectangle", use it to select the desired area. Click on the "Edit" menu, copy the selection. Then just re-create a new file where you can copy the desired part of the image.
Step 4
Learn about screen capture programs from alternative developers, many of these utilities open up enormous opportunities for the user: automatic screen capture, capturing a specific area of it at once, automatic image saving, using additional keys to take a screenshot, recording footage and many others.
Step 5
Also, study the properties of the media player if you are going to take snapshots of the video files it plays, since they often do not allow you to capture the screen in the usual way using the image editor.
