D-Link is a Taiwanese company that has been manufacturing various networking and telecommunications equipment since 1986. It is most widely known for its routers and modems used in home and office LANs. The menu (more precisely, the control panel) for such devices of modern versions does not open by launching any program installed on the computer, but each time it is loaded from the connected device.
Instructions
Step 1
Check that the network device whose menu you are interested in is working and connected to the local network or directly to your computer.
Step 2
Launch any of the browsers installed on your operating system. The visualization of the control panel of the D-Link router is implemented using the hypertext markup language, and you will see the settings and work with them in the same way as with the "admin panel" of some Internet site.
Step 3
Type in the address bar of the browser the network IP address of the control panel - 192.168.1.253. Then press the Enter key, and the D-Link control panel authorization form will load into the browser window. It consists of three fields (for entering a login, password and captcha), a button for sending data, which is automatically updated every time the image page is loaded, and a button for forced updating. "Captcha" is a set of numbers and letters of the Latin alphabet, which is shown in the generated image and is designed to protect against hacking scripts.
Step 4
Enter your username and password in the appropriate fields of the form. If this is your first time logging into the control panel, then use the factory default login value (admin), and leave the password field blank. In the third field, type the sequence of characters that you see in the picture. If it is impossible to identify any of the characters shown, then click the Regenerate button and you will be presented with another set. Then press the button labeled Log In - the entered data will be sent to the control program of the device, which will check their correctness and load the control panel into the browser window.
Step 5
If the submitted data is incorrect, the program will reload the same page, adding an error message. Try to log in again. If you have already set any password and changed your login, and now you cannot remember it, you can reset them and return to the factory settings. To do this, press the Reset button on the body of the D-Link device. This operation is potentially dangerous in that not only the login and password will be reset, but also all other settings, including those ensuring the operability of the network.
